Amy Trapani-Bowen graduated from Hope College in 1993 within a double major in Dance and Psychology and then completed a MFA in dance from the University of Utah in 1996. It was at the University of Utah where Amy first met a classical Pilates reformer under the instruction of the brilliant Sally Fitt in her Dance Kinesiology class. The synergy of training as a dancer in the Pilates method immediately connected with Amy. Since then she has used Pilates as a powerful tool to enrich and strengthen her dance technique.
A professional dance career with Kim Robards Dance pulled Amy to Denver where she eventually decided to become a teacher and went to the Pilates Center in Boulder to complete her certification in 2000. Amy taught for Cara Reeser at Pilates Aligned until she decided to stay at home to raise her 3 children. During her time away from teaching Pilates, Amy has been training in a variety of exercise modalities. HIIT classes, weight training, spin classes, dance, kickboxing, yoga, hiking, and kid wrangling “Pilates offers a beautiful alignment practice to keep doing all the activities I love in the healthiest and most profound way as I age”
After being invited to sub some pilates classes at Trufit 20, Amy was curious about the Super Slow Method. She was quickly hooked and was then inspired to get certified. Pilates and Super Slow compliment each other in such a beautiful seamless fashion to offer a fine tuned whole body strength workout.
When Amy is not training in the studio you can find her rehearsing for a new dance project she will be performing around town, goofing around with her two dogs, or spending time with her family and friends in any way. Amy can’t wait to share her joy of movement and commitment to expand one’s individual strength with the TruFit 20 community and friends.
